peace

So this has nothing to do with anything, save that its exam week. So what do I do? Fuck around with Paintshop Pro and blog, for the first time in over a month, of course. Its Arabic for peace. No commentary on anything related to Arabic speakers, I just think its a gorgeous looking script. And I get bored with Chinese. On to the goods:

An offering in love and peace! From the ashes of The Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves, Matador Records is now home to Jaguar Love. Debut "Take Me to the Sea" is out 19 August, and here's the two tracks I've got. I could never really get into The Blood Brothers, but somehow I really dig Johnny Whitney's yelpy vocals in this new gig. So check 'em out, buy the lp when it hits, and until then check out their myspace. Also, Jaguar Love swag is being produced already at Johnny Whitney's Crystal City Clothing. I'm so happy to hear Jay Clark again!

Jaguar Love - Highways of Gold

Jaguar Love - Bats Over the Pacific Ocean

Two more tracks, this time from Sub Pop's The Thermals. I was just introduced to this band by a friend, through their video for A Pillar of Salt, which you can find via NYNoise below. Its raw and upbeat and generally makes me want to dance my ass off and tear the world apart, only to rebuild it in a better way of course. Knock yourself out with these:

The Thermals - Here's To Your Future

I stumbled upon this, never heard of it before, whatever. Great smorgasbord of videos and interviews from Yeasayer, MGMT, The Thermals, Digitalism, Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco, Liars, The Dodos, New Young Pony Club, Ra Ra Riot, CSS, Black Kids, Klaxons... jeez they're packed:
